What are some healthy fitness tips that we can put into action immediately?
I'll give a few here, and I'll also get into the "why" behind some of these health based fitness tips as well.
#1 - Focus on building strength and more muscle.
Why? Well, having muscle on your body allows for better function of every organ in your body.
Building muscle produces life changing proteins called myokines that help you:
If that doesn't convince you, I'd love to introduce you to one of my favorite fitness books, Body by Science. And in my article and video in the link here I describe just how this one healthy fitness tip of building muscle can save YOUR life.
In addition to this, adding just 10 pounds of muscle increases your resting metabolism to burn another 375 calories per day.
Most of my other healthy fitness tips revolve around this important factor of performing strength training.
Why? Because building muscle is the keystone of healthy exercise.
How do we achieve all of these benefits of strength training that I described?
#2 - Achieve full momentary muscle fatigue twice or once a week while strength training.
Why?
The further we push our muscles to full fatigue, the more myokines are sent through the body, and in turn, the more of these powerful health benefits are also released.
Also be sure to give your muscles an ample amount of rest between strength training sessions.
For many individuals, full muscle fatigue is difficult to reach, and understandably so, because it is an intense experience.
Many individuals, including my own clients, find it very useful to hire a fitness trainer to watch out for form and remain safe, while having the accountability of an appointment.

Of all the healthy fitness tips, this one hits home more than others.
#3 Put an emphasis on healthy nutrition instead of aerobic activity.
Why?
What we eat has a direct causation on our body mass. And aerobic activity doesn't have the fat burning capacity that the myths convey.
In the past I would put an emphasis on doing some kind of aerobic activity that most people call "cardio". It didn't work for me.
I think a lot of individuals believe that they can eat that 300 calorie cake every day as long as they are on the treadmill every day.
But unfortunately it doesn't work like that, aerobic machines do not accurately depict "calories burned" in your own system.
From Body by Science:
"There are 3,500 calories in a pound of fat. If their (aerobic machine users) appetites are not increased by the treadmill work, contrary to the norm, and they keep a stable calorie intake, it would take 15.74 days for the man and 14.36 days for the woman to burn off a pound of fat with this type of activity."
Looking at the time spent during exercise, it is way more beneficial to spend time building muscle and gaining all of the health benefits from that.
