The most effective weight training programs have one specific thing in common:
Full muscle fatigue.
This is also referred to as: momentary muscular failure.
This is the point where the muscles are no longer able to push any further.
When we push our muscles to this point safely, we are not only building the most muscle possible, but we are also unleashing powerful proteins in the body called myokines.
These myokines are responsible for all of the health benefits that have been attributed to exercise, like:
Aerobics won't do this, walking won't do this, what people call "cardio" won't either.
Full muscle fatigue is the way to higher health, longevity, and life extension.
My video below explains more about what full muscle fatigue is, and how to achieve it.
There are misconceptions about what makes an effective weight training program.
Some people look at strength training and think that it's all about bodybuilding and getting huge and ripped.
While that is certainly an aesthetic that is important to some people, most of us normal people just want to feel better, look better, and be healthy.
Effective weight training should focus first on:
Simply put, an effective weight training program can increase almost every single factor of life, and that's exciting.
You can get started now getting these health benefits even without using any weights.
An effective weight training program also doesn't need to take up a lot of time.
Since you will be achieving full muscle fatigue now in all of your workouts, you can spend less time in the gym and more time doing what you love.
This powerful study found that 13 minutes, 40 minutes, or 70 minutes get the same muscle growth results:
if you get to that point of full muscle fatigue.
It's that simple.
These are the important strength training principles that can help you get closer to the life you want to live.
The specific method I use to get to full muscle fatigue is called high intensity training, or otherwise known as super slow, the method that's presented in the book Body by Science.
I've been a certified fitness trainer for over 15 years now and this specific method I have used for every one of my clients for the past five years:
With faster results in muscle growth than I have seen in all other methods previously.
And I've had the pleasure of working with some of the best trainers in the industry for years and years at The Perfect Workout.
I hope you'll take my advice and begin a strength training program that gets the muscles to full fatigue!
